Call for Submissions – Deadline 1st of October 2012 (extended)

 In January 2013 Smiths Row in association with 
the Cambridge Super 8 Group will be hosting
an eight-week exhibition dedicated to the art of Super 8.

Smiths Row is currently accepting submissions from artists
from any discipline to produce works either using /
originating in Super 8 or inspired by the format.
Proposals can be submitted for works in any form such as
moving-image (analogue and digital), installation, performance,
graphic art, photography, painting, sculpture and
sound.

Deadline for proposal has been extended, it is now the 1st of October 2012

New members meeting -Friday the 13th of July 2012

We are hosting a meeting for new members to join. We are an open group so please come and join us for a friendly chat at CB2 cafe (Norfolk Street in Cambridge) on Friday the 13th of July (upstairs) at 6pm.


Super 8 Challenge Screening at the Big Weekend

The 12 films made especially to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic flame will be revealed.

Saturday 7th of July 2012 – 5pm
First part – The screening will take place on Parkers Piece in the pop-up cinema! Join us for a free screening.

Sunday 8th of July 2012 – 3pm

Second part – The finalists and new 5 new films will be screened on Parkers Piece in the pop-up cinema!

Super 8 film screening – 30th of March 2012

Short film screenings in partnership with the Cambridge International Super 8 Film Festival and Straight 8

The best films shot for Straight 8 will be shown. One Super 8 cartridge, one brilliant idea, 3 min, no retake !
The fun starts at 8pm, so come and join us for a great night of inspirational shorts. We will show also some of the films we made at the Cambridge Super 8 group.

Come and have a chat, watch some brilliant films and find more about the Super 8 format around a drink !
